These center cab switchers were built by General Electric (GE) in Erie, PA in 1939 and 1940. They were powered by two 6-cylinder Cooper-Bessemer GN-6 units (1,000 HP - 750 KW) and had a "B-B" wheel configuration. These locomotives were designed to look like a 1938 Ford automobile.
Only one of these 132-ton diesel/electric center cab locomotives originally built for the Ford Motor Company has survived. The last remaining engine was previously Ford's road number 1006. This switcher was last operated by the Wellsville Addison & Galeton Railroad (WAG). It is not currently operational.
