Wood Cab and Pilot Kits for Accucraft's C-16 Live Steam 2-8-0

This cab kit is specially designed for the Accucraft C-16 class locomotive, but will also work well for other loco projects. It is based on Baldwin works drawings, builders photos, and prototype service photos. It is a roomy cab suitable for any medium-sized locomotive from the 1870s to the 1920s. The side walls may be built with four, two or one panel below the window.


The cab's specifications:
  • easy-to-assemble kit goes together quickly
  • drop-in replacement for original metal cab
  • sturdy multi-layer walls, laser-cut from 1/16" three-ply birch plywood
  • detailed scribing shows wood joints, door and window openings, etc.
  • optional back panel permits cab to be built with open center for access to steam regulator, or closed for electric models
  • opening front doors, sliding glazed windows
  •  roof may be installed permanently or made detachable
  • dimensions: 3.9" high, 4.21" wide, 3.16" long (body), 5.07" long (roof).

The dimensions and style match those of the C-16's original cab.  Assembly of the cab requires only glue and basic tools. The kit comes with detailed instructions (click on this link to read them online). Note: Locomotive not included.
