Budget D&RGW 30-foot caboose kit
Our D&RGW long caboose kit is currently under development.
Its introduction has been delayed due to difficulties with a supplier.
The kit is a correctly proportioned reproduction in Fn3 scale (1:20.3) of the Denver & Rio Grande's round-roof 30-foot cabeese (nos. 0503, 0505, 0540, 0574), as they looked before 1950.
The finished car is 18 inches long (45cm), 7.5 inches high (19.5cm), 4.5 inches wide (11.5cm) It features a laser-cut wood frame and body, with cast metal trucks, handrails and other details. The design is a "budget" kit, meaning that while the proportions are accurate, many details have been simplified to cut down on cost and improve ruggedness, making the finished car suitable for regular use on outdoor layouts and cost-competitive with plastic cars.
Price has not yet been determined. (Target range: $150-200 MSRP.)
