Some history:

This Hudson Series 40T Traveler Six Utility Coupe was an intact original example when it was located in Ohio. It was complete with the optional sliding cargo drawer. A prior owner named John D. Lebold of Perrysburg, Ohio, had it fully restored with the frame off using many NOS (New Old Stock) parts including fenders and running boards. The original engine was frost-damaged, so a 1947-vintage unit was rebuilt by a Hudson specialist and installed.
In 1979, the car was awarded AACA Senior First Prize honors. The Hostetlers acquired the car from Mr. Lebold in February of 1992. More recently, the car was on loan to the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan.
This car has been offered in 2018 for sale by Worldwide Auctioneers. The event took place at the former Hostetler Hudson Auto Museum in Shipshewana, Indiana. |

Quote by M. John D. Lebold:
Eldon, Quote by M. Eldon Hostetler:
I saw his car at the Hershey Show where it was on display for a trophy - it had won several trophies before that show. It is a very unusual coupe in that it has a box in the trunk on rollers that can be pulled out. Hudson was the only company making this kind of coupe in 1940. This car was totally restored when we purchased it in 1992. |
